Montana Convention of States volunteer Olivia Burk loves the United States. She believes our country is the greatest country in the history of human civilization, and she's not about to sit by and watch its principles deteriorate.
"We have seen for decades in our country our Constitution undermined, tiny cut by tiny cut. And if this continues, we won't have a Constitution to fight for in a matter of decades," she told a Montana legislative committee.
"I see this as one of the last peaceful actions that people can take legally and constitutionally to protect the principles this country was founded upon."
She called on the committee members to vote for the Convention of States Resolution so her future children would enjoy the same freedoms she has.
"I see this as the tool the Founding Fathers left for We the People to protect our Constitution and to rein in the overreach of the federal government," she said.
An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can rein in Washington's power and spending, and mandate term limits for the career politicians and bureaucrats in our federal government.
