Every year, during the week of September 17th through the 23rd, the U.S. Constitution is shared and celebrated with students as they attend their courses at federally funded institutions. This period of observance promoting understanding and reverence for the Constitution was established through the dedicated efforts of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) organization. It was their petition to congress which led to the passage of the resolution, as signed by Congress in 1956, mandating the observance of this document; the core which our states unite around.
It is nothing short of imperative that from early childhood education onward, our nation's citizens gain an understanding of the USA's unique importance in their own world and the world around them. This established period of introduction and reflection serves to enhance our familiarity with the constitution and continual comprehension of these laws and principles that continue to be assimilated through the generations.
Our nation's founders were assembled by Divine Providence to develop the greatest nation of our civilization, combining the best elements of diverse philosophies, governmental systems, faith and practice and logic. Similarly, Convention of States Action Volunteers of Florida (COSAFL) have come together out of a shared sense of duty and passion to celebrate the Constitution with Florida's students. They recognized that it, too, was Divine Providence that brought them together, not by coincidence but of conscience and spirit.
In 2022, a team of educators, instructors and other professionals developed the Charter for the COSAFL Education Coalition (COSAFL EdCo) and began their work to determine which materials and training were best to present for middle-school Florida students in public, private, faith-based and home-based schooling environments. The uses for these materials are not limited to Constitution Week! Any time of year is a good time to light the spark wherever you know you can have the floor in a space of potential interest.
COSA-FL Volunteers are always learning more about their country's founding and the intents and purposes of the U.S. Constitution.
They recognize and emphasize the truth that our Constitution it is not just what governs us but what enables us to govern ourselves as individuals in this Republic and its representative form of government. The learning process is never ending, no matter one's age.
We The People are tasked with the duty of education for ourselves, our friends and neighbors and our children. Only through developing our civic knowledge can we ever hope to persist as a free and harmonious nation where we exercise our rights, engage our representatives and defend this blessed land.
Florida already passed its resolution in 2014 calling for a Convention, therefore our work is centered around Reaching - Teaching - Activating our fellow Floridians. We always welcome new volunteers to grow this grassroots army of like-minded, concerned and motivated citizens. We are looking for an Education Coordinator to serve in each District and that person could be you. Contact COSAFL EdCo Director Len Fritz here for more information.
If you have already signed the petition supporting an Article V Convention, join the Grassroots Army of like-minded citizens by signing-up to volunteer!
