Welcome to Convention of States Nevada

We are a grassroots army of 25,000+ patriots in Nevada, dedicated to ensuring that important decisions be made as close to home as possible. We believe local voices make better choices for our communities, neighborhoods, and schools. Washington, D.C.'s one size fits all style of governance doesn't work for a state as diverse as Nevada, where each county, town, and community has different cultures, different ideas, and different priorities on issues of policy.

Our mission is to educate the citizens of Nevada on Article V to restore self-governance to the state's people. Our goal is to join those states that have already passed in calling a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress. Sign the petition and join us!

The Project Explained...

Who We Are

PURPOSE

Convention of States Action is a 501 (c)(4) non-profit organization founded to stop the runaway power of the federal government.

We believe Washington, D.C., is broken and will not fix itself.

The federal government is spending this country into the ground, seizing power from the states and taking liberty from the people.

We have a solution that is as big as the problem.

What We Want To Do

GOAL

Convention of States Action (COSA) seeks to urge and empower state legislators to call a convention of states.

Delegates to the convention will have the power to propose amendments to the Constitution to curb federal government abuses.

Article V of the Constitution gives them this power; the COS Project will give them an avenue through which they can use it.

Why We Want To Do It

PROBLEM

  1. The Spending and Debt Crisis
  2. The Regulatory Crisis
  3. Congressional Attacks on State Sovereignty
  4. Federal Takeover of the Decision-Making Process

How We Will Do It

PLAN

  1. It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 to ratify any proposed amendments. Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials.”
  2. We believe grassroots support is the key to successfully calling a convention. We are building a political operation in all 50 states, recruiting 100 citizens ready to contact their state legislators in at least 75% of the state legislative districts.

What About Nevada

NEVADA'S PLAN GOES ONE STEP FURTHER

Introduce the grassroots to getting involved by familiarizing them with their local government. Encourage people to be influential voices in their community.

We believe that local government is the People's best representative voice.

We believe we can have the most meaningful impact on our legislators and our communities by working with the municipalities. Contributing to the improvement of our counties as well as our state.

"Nevadans across the state are waking up and realizing that if we don't do something to bring the power back to the states where it belongs, we will lose the freedoms that countless Americans sacrificed their lives to bring us. Article V is THE solution as big as the problem." VOLUNTEER now and be part of the solution.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
