Operation Golden Dome

On Tuesday, March 22nd, Convention of States (COS) volunteers throughout the state of Georgia convened at the Capitol Building in downtown Atlanta to meet with state house representatives and senators.

The purpose of the meetings was threefold:

1.  Meet as many house representatives and senators as possible to tell them about the fine work COS is already doing, both within the state, as well as nationally.

2.  Educate them on the size and impact of our grassroots movement by providing examples of our recent accomplishments on important issues.

3.  Offer our assistance to help them get legislation approved that is consistent with the COS mission and its values.

The Georgia State General Assembly is made up of 180 house representatives and 56 senators. Therefore, the COS volunteer team prepared 236 personalized information packets, one for each legislator. The packets included valuable information about COS both at the national level, as well as the state level. Each packet was then completed with a personalized letter addressed to each legislator, a personalized bookmark displaying the number of COS members in that legislator’s district, the percentage of growth in COS membership in their district, and a personalized label on the outside of the envelope. This was a tremendous amount of work on the part of the COS team, but the result was a very professional, impressive, and well-received package. There’s an old saying, “you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression,” and our team certainly took that to heart.

The COS team was provided a private room in the Capitol Building for the entire day. That worked out well as a dual-purpose meeting room when legislators came in, as well as a gathering place for the volunteers and material to be distributed. The capitol mailroom was also a tremendous help in distributing packets to the legislators not available for meetings.

Many legislators’ offices were also located across the street from the Capitol Building, so several volunteers also walked over there to attend meetings in legislators’ private offices. The District 15 Representative, Matthew Gambill, even sent us a nice follow-up note suggesting better months and days of the week when we could meet additional legislators in the future.

In all, Operation Golden Dome was a very successful COS grassroots day in Georgia. Thank you, team, for all that you did!

According to individual state polling, two-thirds of all voters in the U.S. support an Article V Convention of States to propose amendments that limit federal spending, limit federal power, and impose term limits on Members of Congress and federal officials.

South Carolina became the fourth state in less than four months to pass a resolution. This is what we call the power of the grassroots movement.

A special thank you to all those that made calls for the S.C. TelePatriot mission.

Branches of Government

The first three articles of the U.S. Constitution say the federal government must be divided between three separate branches. This organizational structure was developed to keep anyone or any level of government from becoming too powerful.

The three branches of government are the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches. Each branch is independent, has its own role and responsibilities (Separation of Powers), is monitored by another branch (Checks and Balances), and cannot seize the functions of another branch.

Executive Branch

The President is the head of the Executive Branch and is elected by the entire country through the Electoral College.

The Executive Branch includes the FBI and Department of Justice, who are responsible for making sure laws are followed. The Executive Branch also includes the Vice President and the President’s advisors, the Cabinet.

The powers of the President are:
  1. Making treaties (after approval by the Senate)
  2. Appointing judges and ambassadors (after approval by the Senate)
  3. Calling Congress into session for “extraordinary occasions”
  4. Enforcing laws
  5. Vetoing bills
  6. Supporting legislation
  7. Granting pardons to federal offenders
  8. Issuing executive orders (orders that don’t need Congress’s approval)

All U.S. citizens regardless of race, religion, sex, political party, etc., should exercise their civic duty and vote for a President who will best represent their interests and values.

Executive Branch Overreach

Just one, of many, examples of Executive Branch overreach is when Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer suggested that the U.S. President call a climate “emergency." By doing this, the President would be able to make laws through executive order. Fabricating an emergency and bypassing the legislative process is clearly not the proper way for a president to lead the nation.

Does a member of the Legislative Branch of government suggesting to the Executive Branch of government a course of action, conflict with the process of Checks and Balances as specified in the U.S. Constitution? Decide for yourself after watching this video.

Become involved in the Convention of States to more effectively oppose government overreach and abuses. Every effort big or small makes a difference.

Ana Vergara has been a dedicated, hard-working COS Volunteer for 15 months now. Seeing the changes in the U.S. regarding government interference, overreach, media control, corruption, and becoming disappointed with this path, Ana attended a COS meeting. At the meeting, Ana met others who had the same concerns and viewpoints, and she was immediately hooked on the Convention of States mission. Ana is a District Captain (DC) Team Supporter. She is also a Follow Up Team (FUT) member.

A Short Interview with Ana

BH: What is your role as a COS volunteer?

Ana: As a DC Team Supporter, I plan and help set up COS booths at town hall meetings, gun shows, festivals, and events as often as twice a week. I meet people, disperse information, and help spread the word about COS. As a FUT member, I email or call petition signers, process their information, and contact the DC. I'm also a team member on a FUT process improvement project.

BH: Why did you become a COS volunteer?

Ana: It’s my way to save the country. In Puerto Rico, when I was younger, I used to see the government corruption, misinformation, control, and not representing the people. Now, I see the same changes happening in the U.S. Talking to people who don’t know about the Convention of States and Article 5 is very gratifying. My husband is a RC with COS and we love working together.

BH: What would you say to a person who is thinking about becoming a COS volunteer?

Ana: I would tell them to volunteer and do something they enjoy and believe in. I would tell them to use their talents and the time they have. It doesn’t matter how much time they have, they can call, email, write, or work from a computer. People have to be involved in local government and activities.

A big 'Thank You' to Ana Vergara for her time, dedication, and hard work towards the COS mission!

You Can Make a Difference

We are looking for volunteers to actively engage with our Georgia State Communications Team on a weekly basis to help transform our social media presence across all of our platforms. We need some meme generators, FB moderators, Gab posters, Twitter tweeters, and GETTR and Telegram activists to help spread the COORDINATED COS message across all of our State pages. We meet weekly (via Zoom), discuss campaigns, and send our warriors out with a message. A little like Paul Revere on his midnight ride, we are looking for social media activists who will engage and promote on a regular, coordinated basis. Please note: we are specifically looking for team players who will commit to 1-hr weekly meetings and targeted campaign drives each week - an approximate 5-hour/week (+/-) commitment. Many hands make light work.

If this sounds like you, please DO let us know! You can contact our State Communications Coordinator, Christine Baker, and let her know of your interest and availability. We look forward to meeting you and potentially collaborating with you in spreading the COS cause all over the world wide web!

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
