The Peach State Patriot Volume 2 Issue 3

THE PEACH STATE PATRIOT

A SEMI-MONTHLY EMAIL NEWSLETTER

FEBRUARY 1, 2022   VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 3

In our last issue, we told you 2022 was going to be a turning point in the United States and a big year for Convention of States.

Well, here we are just two weeks later and two additional states have already passed the Convention of States Resolution.

Wisconsin became the 16th state to pass the resolution last Tuesday, January 25th. Watch the exciting and informative Wisconsin victory video here.

Nebraska, three days later, became the 17th state to pass the resolution on Friday, January 28th. Watch the historical Nebraska victory video here.

We’re halfway to the finish line. Let’s finish the job. Become a volunteer today.

Get connected to your local Convention of States (COS) movement by attending a townhall meeting.

District Captains (DC's) all over Georgia are holding in-person townhall meetings for local volunteers and supporters alike. We have 180 house districts organized within 12 COS regions. Each region hosts at least one townhall meeting a month. These meetings are fun, educational, and uplifting. Saving America is a monumental undertaking, but we must not allow our attitude to drop and become darkened or depressed. A townhall meeting is the perfect place to connect with like-minded people, share a meal, and keep those spirits high. Iron sharpens iron, as the saying goes.

Are you tentative about attending one? Don’t be. I’ll take mystery out of the meeting. We start with introductions. We are all on the same team, so it’s important to know who’s who. The DC who is in charge of the meeting sets the agenda. Typically, important updates and announcements are made and if there are newcomers, a brief explanation about the COS mission is offered, followed by a Q&A.

Naturally, the DC wants to grow the number of supporters in his or her district to help get out the message. A strong grassroots movement is needed to make real change in GA and America. We have a wonderful message that needs to be promoted to the public. Volunteers play a vital role in staffing gun show booths, county fairs, attending school board meetings, writing letters to the editor and local politicians, filming photos and videos at our events, coordinating events, and much more.

Townhall meetings allow the volunteers to get organized and plan where to go next in the local community to spread the message. Some volunteers simply want to attend local meetings, take notes and report back to the group so all are informed.

How can you find a townhall near you? Follow us on Facebook and bookmark our webpage calendar of events. Don’t see an event near you? Contact Tony Moore to find a virtual meeting.  Want to start a townhall?  Even better. COS GA has all the training, tools, and support to make that happen.

We will see you at the next meeting!

Grovetown - Augusta Gun Show

The Grovetown - Augusta Gun Show, hosted by Gem Capitol, was held on January 15th & 16th at the Columbia County Exhibition Center in Grovetown, GA. Region 6 had a booth there and spread the word about Convention of States to many visitors.

Region Captain Joey Gibson and District Captain Dallas Gardner were also able to acquire several new petition signers. One of the petition signers was even from another state.

Let's remember that every event like this we participate in brings us closer to being the largest grassroots army.

Volunteer Spotlight

This month’s volunteer spotlight focuses on a man who truly, like so many of us, started as a petition signer but over time learned more and more about the Convention of States.  Bruce Caouette joined the COS cause as a petition signer in Early 2021. It wasn’t long after that Bruce drove almost 1.5 hrs. to support our efforts to stop the Cobb County GOP from tagging COS supporters and to stop GOP endorsements. This was where I first met Bruce.

Soon thereafter, Bruce took the steps toward volunteering and became a true COS activist. By Memorial Day he was fully engaged and stood by our sides as we participated in the Marietta Town Parade. Bruce quietly became a true part of the GA team and although he often lived a fair distance from COS supported events, he seemed to always find time to help.  In fact, he worked for three full days at the GA National fair in Perry where I again got to spend time with him.

Once again, he was there when we needed him.  As fate would have it, we sorrowfully lost Bruce suddenly this past fall and he will be remembered. He was a thoughtful, quiet individual who, like many of us, believed in the Convention of States and was willing to help whenever we needed it. God Bless you, Bruce, you were a true patriot. RIP

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
