Convention of States!

All of you accomplished so much in Madison!

Published in Blog on May 31, 2020 by Joanne Laufenberg

Earlier this year, Representative Dan Knodl heeded your call, and many cosponsors introduced our resolution in the Wisconsin Assembly, getting us in the race by helping his caucus see what needs to be done.

Senator Tom Tiffany became our champion in the Wisconsin Senate, introducing SJR 57 with multiple cosponsors and helping us in committee.

I believe God used you to perform three miracles with our Article V Convention of States resolution (AJR 77):

  • The Assembly Committee on Federalism and Interstate Relations passed AJR 77 (5-2).
  • On the Assembly floor ridiculous statements by our opposition moved some hesitant legislators off the fence to our side, ultimately helping AJR 77 pass 60-38 (higher than projected).
  • After much difficulty AJR 77 passed in the Senate Committee on Insurance, Financial Services, Government Oversight and Courts (3-2).

We need one more miracle to cross the finish line this session. The Wisconsin Senate might have another extraordinary floor period to handle legislation like ours before the session ends. They might put AJR 77 on the floor for a vote, and it could happen anytime without much notice.

We've asked you to call, write, and meet with your senators, and you have. Every single step of the way, thousands of Wisconsinites who value freedom did what was necessary to help our state legislators take the necessary actions.

I am asking you for one last push, but no more Calls to Action. This is a Call to Inaction. The only way this is going to work is if the man upstairs carries us over the finish line. We all need to get down on our knees and pray this week. The stakes are high, and the odds are not in our favor.

Pray that:

  1. We can calm every concern about the convention process.
  2. That all 32 Wisconsin state senators will vote yes on AJR 77 this year.
  3. That our Wisconsin grassroots team continues to restore and protect freedom, the Constitution, and self-governance for years to come.
