"Would you attend a committee hearing?"

Published in Blog on February 18, 2019 by Stephen Patten

Almost exactly one year ago, I engaged our political system for the first time. I’m not referring to voting, donating, or campaigning for a candidate (many of us do that on a very regular basis), but rather taking part and interacting in the process.

It was one year ago I was asked, “Would you attend a committee hearing?” I didn’t even know what a committee hearing was, but something inside me responded, “Yeah, I’ll be there.”

For the first time, I met the people that were fellow COS supporters and volunteers. I met the legislators that put their names on our resolution. I was taking part in the process the Framers intended that we all be involved in as citizens of a free republic.

So, here we are, one year later. We officially filed our Convention of States application in the Maryland legislature titled Maryland House Joint Resolution 5 (MD HJ5 2019) and will be considered at a hearing in the House Rules and Executive Nominations Committee on Monday March 4 at 2:00 pm.

I humbly ask that you, like myself one year ago, make plans to attend this hearing. If you support our cause and want to assist in our efforts, please CLICK HERE to join us on March 4th in Annapolis.

The easiest way to do that is fill the room, the floor, the building, with COS Maryland supporters.

Will you join us?
