Why is America So Unique?

Published in Blog on January 12, 2022 by Jeffrey W Brown

We hear so much abut how America has problems, that nothing is fair, we should do this, or we should do that.  It is all so confusing.

It is time to look at what makes America so great, so unique.  Of all the countries in the world, this is the one country everyone aspires to reach.  Look at our southern borders if you believe that is not the case.

We are so accustomed to it all, we sometimes forget that nothing is perfect, but some countries are better than others.  If you think there is a better country, then you are free to move there and maybe you should.  Just reserve the right to come back when if your expectations are not met.

There were a lot of celebrities who said they would leave if Trump got elected President.  We wished them bon voyage, but they did not leave.  Why?  Is there something unique about America that they were afraid to leave?  Let us explore this uniqueness.

You are free.  You are free to choose your life’s work and free to change, if you wish.  You can travel freely without permission.  In many countries, you have to get permission to cross the equivalent of your state borders.  We have relatively low taxes, which means we have more discretion on where we can spend our money.

In Scandinavian countries you are relatively free, but your tax burden is higher than 50 percent of your wages.  So, by definition they are less free than you.

Our natural rights (those rights ordained by God) are codified in the Bill of Rights and only we the people can rescind those rights.  Elon Musk was an immigrant, came to the United States and became the richest man in the world.   Ben Carson was born poor, but became a renowned brain surgeon and became Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

How is it that these people can succeed and most of us cannot rise to that level of achievement?  All successful people follow the formula for success (yes, there is a formula), but not all people who follow the formula for success will be successful.  America is a land of Opportunity, not a land of guaranteed success or outcome.

In Communist countries there are two classes of people – the elites (the rulers who control all of the wealth) and the poor (everybody else).  The Russian welfare system can be summed up in the maxim: “No workee, no eatee.”

Yes, there is subsistence for those disabled, but if you are able-bodied, you must work to survive.  Everyone can have a job, but not all jobs are meaningful, create value, contribute to society, or are self-satisfying.  You work for the “mother country.”  Elites in America became rich because they found something Americans wanted and we made them rich by purchasing their products.

In America we strive for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  With America trending toward socialism, these goals are in jeopardy.  Many of our Constitutional guarantees are being subverted by the new interpretations of the Progressives, who claim to know what is good for us (and them) and try to redefine happiness by making us unhappy.

Only “We The People” can bring our country back into balance with the original intent of the Constitution by utilizing Article V of the Constitution of the United States to call a Convention of States to propose amendments that would limit the power of the President and the Judiciary, and to redefine the responsibilities of Congress.

Mark Levin started the discussion of what it would take to bring our country back to the intent of our Founding Fathers in the book entitled “The Liberty Amendments.”  In this book Mark has proposed amendments to the Constitution which include: term limits, limits on the power of the President, a proposal for new state’s rights, a balanced budget, and others.  This year (2022) is a crucial year.

Several states are considering legislation to call for a convention of states.  Fifteen states have already approved legislation.  We need 19 more.  The Convention of States Project is working hard to get these 19 additional states.

Consider joining our effort to bring our country back on the track of responsible government!  Congress will not do it, so it is left to the People of America through the empowerment of Article V of the Constitution of the United States.
