What is the purpose of a rally?

Published in Blog on April 05, 2022 by Dwayne Hull

I was asked this question recently. It’s quite timely as Arizona is having a Rally/Surge event on April 18.

I was a little surprised at the question, but since one volunteer had this question, I imagine several may have the question as well.

There are numerous reasons and purposes for a Rally. Our Rally is also a “Surge” which means we intend to interact with our legislators on the day we are having our rally at the Arizona Capitol.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines rally as

  • to muster for a common purpose
  • to recall to order
  • to arouse for action
  • to rouse from depression or weakness

or

  • to come together again to renew an effort
  • to join in a common cause

These definitions are all verbs that describe what we do at our meeting which we call The Rally and Surge.

We also do some other things I think are really important:

  • We exercise our God-given right to peaceably assemble and exercise free speech.
  • We meet and exchange ideas face-to-face with our team members, most of whom we have only seen on Zoom screens or heard on the phone.
  • We find out that we are not alone in our deeply felt commitment to correct the path of our Constitutional Republic which we sense is on borrowed time and close to failure due to neglect and outright attack from our opposition.
  • We listen to legislators who have similar ideas and goals to our own and develop what could be active and productive relationships that can result in better government at the State level.
  • We re-commit to building and maintaining a grassroots army that can be called on to root out and block legislation that does not serve We the People.
  • Without fear and without masks we shake hands, we laugh, we listen to patriotic music, we live life as free self-governing citizens, a very rare thing in this world we live in today.

These are all things we do at our Rally and Surge. I hope you will join me. Bring your family, bring your neighbors. Share who you are with everyone who attends. Plan to do more than just sit on the lawn! Make this an event to remember!

P.S.

In case you haven’t heard, the Rally and Surge is on April 18th at the Capitol in Phoenix. The Rally Flyer is here.
