What about our nation’s moral decline?

Published in Blog on June 24, 2022 by Image from Cross Cards

[I]t is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue.” ~John Adams

Everywhere we look, mainstream media points to our nation’s moral decline.

At our nation’s Constitutional Convention of 1787, the delegates were at a “deadlock” on different issues. Some people today have told me they expect a Convention of States would face the same problem of not being able to agree.

Benjamin Franklin, probably the least religious of the Founding Fathers, offered a solution:

“In this situation of this assembly, groping, as it were, in the dark to find political truth, and scare able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of Lights to illuminate our understandings?  In the beginning of the contest with Britain when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the Divine Protection. Our prayers, sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered.  All of us who were engaged in struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending Providence in our favor…And have now forgotten that powerful Friend? or do we imagine we no longer need His assistance?  I have lived, sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, sir, in the Second Writings that except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that built it.  I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel…and we ourselves shall become a reproach and a byword down to future ages.  I therefore beg leave to move, that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberation, be held in this assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of the city be requested to officiate in that service.”1

David and Tim Barton in The American Story: The Beginnings, connects the dots of that request. Everyone in that room knew of the “…Biblical ideas, references, and phrases…” whereas today’s American’s might not.

For example:

1.     “groping in the dark” (Job 12:25)
2.     “the Father of Lights” (James 1:17)
3.     “Illuminate our understanding” (James 1:5)
4.     “a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice.” (Matthew 10:29, Luke 12:6)
5.     “can an empire rise without His aid” (Daniel 4:17, Psalm 75:7)
6.     “except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1)
7.     “the builders of Babel” (Genesis 11:1-9)
8.     “a reproach and a byword” (Deuteronomy 28:37, 1 Chronicles 7:20, 1 King 9:7, Psalm 44:14)

So, since mainstream media tells us the majority of Americans do not read the Bible, how would a Convention of States produce good fruit?

Here are some seeds for you to grow:

1.     Inform your legislators that you wish them to select delegates to the Convention of States that have high moral character – tell them who specifically you recommend.

2.     No matter which Delegates are chosen for NH or all the other states, no matter if they start with prayer, everyone at home can pray daily for the success of this convention.

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” ~Matthew 18:20 KJV

3.     Stand firm in the power of prayer.

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

4.     Remember that fear is not from God. We are called to serve Him.

“To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Would serve Him without fear,” ~Luke 1:74 NASB

I encourage you to choose faith and not give in to fear.  If you don’t support a Convention of States because of fear, then you are by default lacking in faith. Giving into fear hurts all Americans since Convention of States is the non-partisan solution.

Looking at our Federal Government

In the past two years especially, our federal government has promoted and profited from its fear campaigns, which is costing American’s their mental health.

In MA on June 16th, 2022, a gentleman drove his car into a New England pro-Trump store, stating that he heard a voice in his head that told him to do it.

Shall we let fear, whether from our government's propaganda or the evil in this world, stop us from taking action that will solve our runaway federal government?

Shall we let fear stop the only non-violent solution?

What can we do?

Rather than subscribing to our government's fear propaganda, I propose – as those who still have a Biblical worldview – that we choose faith and help those around us.

If you have not already, sign the petition in support of Convention of States and tell everyone you know of this solution to our runaway federal government.

Will you let the fear of our nation’s moral decline stop you from supporting a Convention of States, or will you choose faith in our Creator?

Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.”~Job 22:21 NIV

Words of Hope:

Don't listen to the nay-sayers nor those who promote evil. Term Limits on Congress and federal officials at an Article V Convention of States can help.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” ~Proverbs 1:1-3

Stop our greedy Federal Government! We can do this with fiscal restraints at a Convention of States.

The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.” ~Proverbs 28:25

Fear is a weapon that is against you. Rein in the Federal Governments power and restore it to the states at a Convention of States.

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” ~Isaiah 54:17

Act with courage, have faith, the Lord wishes you to prosper!

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” ~3 John 2
