"We Are Everywhere!"

Published in Blog on July 07, 2022 by David Vigna

Working to spread the Convention of States’ message can be challenging.

Educating a worried and often complacent population that the solution to the runaway federal government we face today is right there in Article V of our beloved Constitution is just the first hurdle.

Another is misinformation about the process and what it can and cannot do.

It can be a lonely job and sometimes very frustrating, leading to the feeling that we’re getting nowhere in this noble effort.

But, now and then, a day comes along and reveals progress, and suddenly the work seems to be paying off.

District Captain Rhonda G Ruterbusch had one of those days recently.

She was making TelePatriot calls to Pennsylvania supporters as she was traveling from her home in Michigan to visit her daughter in New York, asking them to contact their representatives in the legislature to urge them to vote to pass the Convention of States resolution.

A trucker answered one of the calls, was thrilled to hear from her and expressed his complete belief in the COS project and what might happen in Pennsylvania, as his state was close to passing the resolution calling for an Article V Convention of States.

He was part of a patriotic trucker convoy from Pennsylvania to West Virginia, with a rally planned at the end. He even asked Rhonda to speak at the rally. Touched and honored by his request, Rhonda explained she was calling from Michigan and directed him to resources in West Virginia where he might find a COS speaker.

The level of excitement from that trucker to the prospect of a convention of states was contagious. Rhonda ended the call feeling excellent, heartened that our efforts were gaining traction.

But Rhonda’s day of inspiration wasn’t over yet.

She arrived at her daughter’s house in New York, still excited over her call with the trucker, when her daughter told her she’d been consoling a person stressed over family medical issues. The country’s problems entered the conversation, as they so often do. Her daughter asked if the person was familiar with the Convention of States Project, and to her surprise and delight, the person was very familiar with COS and very supportive of it.

Having left Michigan for New York and hearing from supporters in two different states in a single day was heartwarming for Rhonda. She came away from that day inspired and elevated, exclaiming that “we are everywhere!”

Maybe not everywhere (yet), but we savor those days when if feels that way.

Indeed, support is growing by leaps and bounds, and more and more people are paying attention thanks to the efforts of Rhonda and so many grassroots patriots like her.
