Wayne Walvoord: Advocate for Northeastern Colorado

Published in Blog on February 28, 2024 by Vivian Garcia

Wayne Walvoord is a great COS resource for concerned Coloradans in the Northeast. He is the type of leader who is willing to take risks, who can dust his knees off and keep running after a fall and he never fails to show up and tirelessly educate the Region 08 COS supporters. Okay, so he doesn’t run. He’d laugh at the thought but he would get there, no matter what! That’s who he is: determined, dedicated and full of life.

Wayne has been a Convention of States Action Volunteer for almost six years. He started as a District Captain in the Brighton area and then became a Regional Captain for the greater Northeastern Region of Colorado. He is always looking for District Captains who have the time and ability to reach out to their state district in his region. He could use the help to bring the knowledge of Article V to people. Supporters can equip themselves to use the Constitution as the solution to the out-of-control federal government we are all suffering from now.

His greatest motivation are his 14 grandchildren and 4 children and their futures and for their posterity. I think everybody reading this cringes for the people who will live under the U.S. federal government 50 to 70 years from now. What will they endure? Will they have any liberty? Wayne is fighting every day of his life to make sure he does everything he can to make sure that our posterity has liberty and their God-given rights.

Wayne turns 80 in March! He has the challenges of reaching that great landmark and he meets them all, day by day. In 2023, his Regional Captain job, ever-changing with the times, required him to learn how to better use his smart phone and make it work for him. He was determined to learn how to use his apps, how to make the most of texting, how to create, use, print and distribute QR Codes, anything necessary to do his volunteer job. Tech is not his strong point but he meets the challenge head-on and figures it out.

The public part of his job is his strong point. He was an international banker in his early days. He travelled and lived all over the Middle East in his young life. He loves meeting people and networking is what he does naturally. He loves managing, hosting and attending his monthly agenda meetings in Brighton. If Wayne can be there, he will get COS petitions at local events, he has shown up to help COS Vets at their events, he always shows up to our annual Rally at the Capitol, at Surge Days, he testifies before committee, you name it, he’ll be there.

Wayne Walvoord is the Volunteer of the Month in February. I like to highlight volunteers during Legislative Season in Colorado which runs from January to May. Legislative Season is when our State Senators and Representatives are in session at the Capitol and are legislating for Colorado. This is when Convention of States volunteers are focusing on Denver. We put the efforts in to testify before committee to move the Convention of States Resolution in Colorado so that we can be a part of the 34 states that trigger a Convention of States. All of the different COSA Teams unite with resolve: our State Director, Grassroots Coordinator, Communications, Legislative Team, Veterans, District Leader Teams, Information Analysts, Events, etc., unite to make Convention of States Action visible; and we’re all volunteers and Colorado residents!

Our team is growing, year by year and the choices to highlight volunteers are expanding. If they’re not highlighted here in our blog, you will see them on our Colorado Facebook page, or our Colorado YouTube channel and they’ve even been on the COS National YouTube channel as well as the COS National newsletter from time to time. Volunteers in Colorado are truly impressive, and in one of the most challenging states!

Wane is highlighted in February because of his efforts during his agenda meeting where volunteers learned about giving testimony before committee. He’s currently planning for the March agenda meeting to work on written testimony. They’re going to practice, critique and time their testimony so that they’re ready for when our Resolution gets scheduled to be heard. He also put together a COS table and managed COS exposure at the Weld County Lincoln Day Dinner on February 24th. He figured out how to put his personal QR code on his new COS business cards so he can keep track of the effectiveness of his cards. He never stops trying.

By the way, the Convention of States Resolution is in queue to be heard by the State House of Representatives House State, Civic, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee and we are preparing to testify. We’re waiting for the date and time to be set at the Capitol. We’re not all public-speaking types of people but we’ll show up anyway, testifying because we know it is a worthy and effective effort. Not only that, people are preparing to travel from different regions of Colorado to testify, or they’re preparing to testify online. Online testimony is an option.

Keep an eye out for updates from us about when and how this happens. Make sure you’re signed up at the COS website. Get a profile and enable email and text. Be a part of our grassroots movement! If you want more information about Convention of States, watch these videos:
