We're so proud of three Maryland students who testified in support of an Article V Convention of States before the House of Delegates and Senate this year. You can watch their compelling testimonies by selecting the links with their names below.
Cody, last year's student essay contest winner, advocated with great conviction on the subject of term limits.
History shows us that when people stay in power too long they become corrupted by it. They forget where they came from and the people that elected them...the longest serving member to the House of Representatives served for 59 years.
Ellie, a student essay contest writer, testified for the second year in a row. Her testimony is highlighted by her plea to Committee members to vote the Convention of States bills out of committee for full debate by the State Legislature.
Article V is our Hail Mary!
More than 30,000 of your constituents have very plainly asked that you consider this and as representatives it is your duty to deliberate and then say whether or not you will pass this to the floor.
Jakob, Maryland STEM student of the year and this year's student essay contest winner, also testified in favor of term limits.
(lack of term limits) prevent new & fresh ideas from taking hold... mocking the design of our representative government
We marvel at the courage and humility all three students brought to bear in actively participating in the legislative process.
We are now more than halfway to our goal to convene a Convention of States! 19 of the needed 34 states have passed the resolution, and we're making progress in all 50 states, including Maryland. Our national goal is to reach 24 states by 2024 and the required 34 by 2026. Momentum is on our side! To learn more about getting involved, click the image below.
