Duty is Ours

Published in Blog on August 13, 2021 by Mona Kita

I grew up through the Cold War. I watched the Vietnam War on a black and white TV screen. My neighbor was a WWII veteran and my favorite book was "Diary of a Young Girl." I grew up fascinated by history, unable to understand how anyone could believe the lies of Pravda, why they would surrender their freedoms without a fight.

Today, I understand. My children are all adults now and through college and social media, they were told this is a racist and unfair country. They were told the world will burn up and people will die unless we stop driving gas-powered vehicles. They were told Biblical principles are hurtful and discriminatory to others. They were told submission for the 'greater good' was the loving way to live.

Every fiber of my God-fearing, America-loving, freedom-craving spirit wants to fight back. I want to shout abortion is murder, marriage is between a man and a woman, scientists are being paid to lie to us, and we should not give up our freedoms to spare feelings.

Yet, even in my own home, I find myself biting my tongue. I don't want to start a fight over dinner about politics. I just nod and move on from these subjects.

Mark Meckler

This week, I was blessed to hear Mark Meckler speak at two town halls in North Carolina. What he had to say shook me out of my fear to speak out, my willingness to just go along for the sake of keeping an uneasy peace.

"We live in a Marxist country, not that we are becoming Marxist...We are Marxist. Marxism is fundamentally

Anti-Family
Anti-God
Anti-Human.

After the 2014 election, when Republicans took control of the Senate and retained control of the House, we all believed things in Washington would change. They would control spending and reign in government overreach, but nothing happened. Even after 2016 and 2018 not much changed."

Mark told the story of John Quincy Adams. After Adams served as President, he returned to Washington and served in Congress for another 17 years. Mr. Adams was a fierce abolitionist, so fierce the rest of the House grew tired of hearing about his beliefs on slavery. He was told to be quiet, but he did not. When asked why he wouldn't quit he said, "Duty is ours and the results belong to God."

Adams died in service of that duty on the floor of the House of Representatives. One man who greatly admired him, followed him around, served as a pall bearer at Adam's funeral took up his call for abolition. That man was Abraham Lincoln, the Great Emancipator.

Our job is not to fight and be victorious, our job is to FIGHT.

It is past time for us to pick up the mantle and fight. It may mean we are not always welcomed at block parties, or people groan when we stand up to speak at the PTA meetings, but fight we must.

Mark concluded by offering us tools to fight with: Get involved! Run for town commissioner, school board, or any other local office.

Stop sending money to radical Universities. Seats at football games fund some of the most radical institutions in the country. Private colleges need to be supported and duplicated.

Call or handwrite a letter to your representatives. E-mails are ineffective.

Write or call some Senators who push off COS legislation.
