Volunteer Voice - 8th Edition

The Way I See It
Toni Clay - COS Tennessee State Director

I'd like to share a few thoughts about the dinner table. More to the point, the all too common removal of any discussion on matters of faith or politics. When I hear the statement, "Oh we don't discuss politics or religion at our house," I wonder, why not? I imagine discussions of only non-controversial subjects and non-committed positions on a myriad of largely unimportant topics.

"We're all on this journey together, so why not talk as we walk?"

Interest in the Convention of States grassroots movement is exploding! Now is the perfect time to share COS with friends and family and give them a place to engage in the preservation of their liberties. Many people are not aware that such a vehicle exists for the express purpose of amplifying their voice to those elected to represent them.

There has never been a better time to introduce others to COS. In this time of pandemic concern, overreach of authority in the breathtaking expansion of federal, state, and city governments, we need voices joined to say that we will not abide by the continued trampling of our constitutional liberties. Historically, governments do not fear the lone voice, but are forced to hear the many joined as one.

It's easy to introduce everyone to COS. Just open a conversation. Sometimes it's as simple as asking if they'd truly like to have a voice in the discussion when it comes to the issues of personal freedom.

Perhaps they'd even like to volunteer! If their answer is yes, invite them to visit www.conventionofstates.com to learn more and sign the petition. Better yet, help them do that. When they do, we'll reach out to them with a warm welcome to the grassroots army committed to preserving our nation and freedom.

The larger our numbers grow, the louder and more persistent we are, the stronger our influence is felt. We don't have to recruit an army ourselves. One already exists. We only need for each one to reach one!

 Volunteer Spotlight

We are extremely proud to introduce our state's newest recipient of the COS Patriot Pin, Gary Nelson.

Serving as a Regional Captain, Gary is an active, engaged volunteer with your COS Tennessee team. He resides in District 76, in Dukedom. Regional Captains offer support to District Captains and the grassroots efforts within their respective areas.

Gary is a retired Navy veteran with 20 years in the service of our nation, for which we are deeply grateful. Part of his tenure included service during the Vietnam years of conflict.

In a recent interview with The Volunteer Voice, Gary stated, "I became interested in involvement in COS when I saw freedoms increasingly trampled, the First Amendment being limited, state legislatures acting increasingly heavy-handed and irresponsibly, and the debt more out of control daily. I believe issues in politics and education are two strong areas needing attention. They are contributing greatly to the problems we are facing".

Gary and his wife Doris are parents to five daughters, six grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. We thank you for your service to our country, Gary, and we are proud to labor alongside you in the effort to preserve our freedom. Our gratitude and congratulations, sir!

Your Country Needs You

COS Tennessee is currently looking for volunteers throughout our state with a desire to become more active in the messaging of self-governance. We have opportunities for videographers, content writers, social media warriors, and more!

We get to tell the story of the Convention of States in a concise and compelling way. Perhaps you're good at organizing neighbors in your district or would love to learn how to best interact with your legislators. We have a place for you.

Interested? Reach out to your District Captain or State Director Toni Clay at toni.clay@cosaction.com.
