We Said We’d Not Forget…But Have We?

The world went through a tremendous upheaval during World War II. It was a time when most people could not even imagine how we could have come to a point where any evil empire could cause worldwide destruction and carnage. Yet, it didn’t start as it ended. It started quite differently, with few noticing the threat before them.
The Third Reich began its journey by a few simple steps. First, it systematically separated the people into distinct groups. They quickly identified those who agreed and supported them and those who didn’t. They took control of the news and instituted a vast propaganda mechanism, shutting down dissent and free speech. They nationalized businesses. They controlled the ballot casting and counting. Business owners could only produce what the government told them they could produce. All efforts went toward furthering the Nazi agenda. They rationed goods and services, and chose winners and losers, depending on party support. They divided one group or ideology against another, one family member against another, knowing that a united citizenry cannot be defeated, but a divided one is weak, unorganized, and vulnerable.
These are the schemes of the wicked. These are the steps that lead to bondage, misery, and death.
It seems we are watching a repeat of history. Have you forgotten?
