In late Oct. 2021, University of Georgia President, Provost, and several Administrators sent an email to faculty, staff, and students requiring everyone at UGA to be vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus by Jan. 2022. UGA officials explained that because they receive federal funding, they were required to follow federal vaccine mandates.
A Convention of States Georgia volunteer with a family member at UGA appealed to fellow Georgia COS members. A "Call to Action" was initiated. COS members were requested to email or call UGA to voice opposition to this vaccine mandate. Our telepatriots became involved, too! Many Georgia COS members registered their support by calling or emailing UGA officials.
A two-day "Medical Freedom Rally" at the UGA campus was organized, complete with signs, flyers, flags, and speakers. As it turned out, some students were unaware of the vaccine mandate. The outcome of these efforts was positive, and the proposed vaccine mandate by UGA was halted.
This is a perfect example of COS values and goals at work, making a difference. In a self-governing culture, citizens get to decide and make the changes they want, influencing their local political environment. The federal government doesn’t need to dictate at the local level. This is what grassroots and "We the People" are all about.
