This Independence Day, resolve to be a leader for liberty

Our nation is not the same one we lived in four months ago.

The level and pace of government overreach has been unprecedented and compounded by lawlessness, destruction, and violence.

This is not America.

Two hundred and forty-four years ago, the patriots in the American colonies pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to create a nation of freedom and opportunity such as the world has never known.

The ideals of liberty and self-governance expressed in the Declaration of Independence are encapsulated in these immortal words:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” [emphasis added]

The Convention of States movement aims to restore that crucial principle to American government—bloodlessly—with a solution as big as the problem.

Now, as in 1776, patriots must lead in that effort. Instead of muskets, we possess iron resolve, statesmanship, and an unwavering devotion to truth and liberty.
