Like millions of other Texans, members of the Convention of States Texas team were left without power and water during last week’s storm. Many of us, myself included, were forced to abandon our homes and seek shelter at hotels, some of which were hours away.
This type of crisis was made worse due to poor decision-making by our governing officials, and it’s up to us to make sure it never happens again.
With the Texas Legislature in session, Convention of States Texas will be leading the grassroots charge to strengthen our energy grid to protect it from all hazards.
Here is what you can do right now to help!
- Contact your state representative and ask them to support House Bill 1731, sponsored by Representative Tinderholt. If they are in support, thank them, and ask them to co-sponsor the bill. Look up your state representative here.
- There will be a hearing on the Texas Electric Grid on Thursday, February 25, at 9:00 a.m. They are only taking invited testimony for this hearing. However, you can make your voice heard by submitting testimony online here. You can also watch the hearing here.
- Visit your senator’s and representative’s office in person at the Texas capitol. Right now, the capitol is a ghost town, meaning there is no better time to exert influence on this process.
