Lawless assault on the Constitution continues

Published in Blog on January 27, 2021 by Kenneth Hedges

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and 44 other Republicans voted on Tuesday to dismiss Impeachment 2.0 of former President Donald Trump, who is now a private citizen.

The United States Constitution is very clear about the meaning of impeachment.

The Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach and remove the President, Vice President, and all federal civil officers for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

“Remove” is the operative word and intent. The intent of the Democrats on its surface seems to be some kind of weird, Soviet-style double jeopardy. They would rather waste taxpayer dollars and legislative resources on vindictive, self-righteous persecution of the former president than to work on substantive legislation.

What a pathetic scene.

“When the President of the United States is tried the Chief Justice shall preside…” [U.S. Constitution Article I, Section 3, Clause 6]. Chief Justice John Roberts will not preside over this grotesque clown show.

Instead, Democrat Senate President pro tempore Patrick Leahy will be presiding. Leahy is a serial leaker of classified information and opponent of school choice. This sham impeachment will be the crowning achievement of his 46 years at the public trough.

This public display of preening and posturing by the Democrats would be looked upon by the Founding Fathers with great horror. Senator Rand Paul had this to say to say about these proceedings: “As of noon last Wednesday, Donald Trump holds none of the positions listed in the Constitution. He is a private citizen,” and therefore the trial “violates the Constitution.”

Constitutional scholar Alan Dershowitz agrees that the impeachment proceedings are unconstitutional and went on to say how divisive and damaging to public trust it will be.

“Many thousands of people listen to the speech. A small percentage of them actually went to the capitol. A smaller percentage of them actually broke into the capitol. An even smaller percentage of them destroyed property, and an infinitesimally small percentage of them hurt and killed people,” said Dershowitz.

From the day Donald J. Trump took the oath of President of the United States, he and his family have been harassed, disparaged, and vilified for implementing legislation and programs that put citizens’ interests ahead Washington’s.

This is how tyrannical governments operate, not a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

This is just the beginning of what the unholy alliance of elitists have in store for We the People, who speak out against such tyranny. They are trying to “disappear” any person, business, or media outlet that stands against the status quo.

They are coming after any of us who stand up for truth, reason, and a constitutional republic. We cannot wait for the existing Uni-Party political system in Washington, D.C., to come around to truly representing we the people.

Washington politicians are engaged in a process to strip the U.S. Constitution of its meaning and forever change this country that we cherish and love.

We need a Convention of States.  And we need it now!
