Turning Aircraft into Scrap Metal

Published in Blog on August 29, 2023 by Robert Bonhag

According to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), the US Department of Defense bought 20 G222 cargo aircraft in 2008 for the Afghan Air Force in support of the war effort.

But the planes were defective, outdated, and soon were useless as there was no way to get repair parts from the supplier of the planes.

Washington has an exceptional track record when it comes to wasting our tax dollars.

It wasted $549,000,000 of American’s money to buy these useless planes.

Based on the severe maintenance and safety issues, the Department Of Defense needed to come up with a solution.

Their solution was to scrap the 20 planes and capture the scrap costs of $40,257.00.

In a matter of only a few years, Uncle Sam turned $549,000,000 of our money into just $40,000.

Tell your legislator you've had enough fiscal malfeasance. Sign the Petition in support of an Article V convention.
