Published in Blog on December 02, 2019 by Sharon Correll

Convention of States Texas volunteer Melanie Kriewaldt-Roth was the guest speaker at a meeting of the Texas A&M chapter of Turning Point USA on Thursday evening, November 21.

Her presentation covered constitutional principles, a discussion of racism and equality, and an overview of the threat of socialism in America.

Melanie, a social studies teacher at Faith Academy in Marble Falls, is spearheading the Young Americans for COS Coalition in Texas. The presentation was part a larger effort to build connections between Convention of States and TPUSA.

The mission of TPUSA is "to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government." As such, they share many values with Convention of States, and founder Charlie Kirk has endorsed COS. TPUSA has established chapters on 1500 campuses around the country and has affiliated efforts in Canada and the UK.

The Young Americans Coalition efforts this fall have focused on constitutional principles, which also included presentations by District Captain Tom Mast For Young Conservatives of Texas groups at St. Edwards University and Texas State.

Next spring the focus will switch to the electoral process in anticipation of the 2020 presidential election.
