Yesterday saw thousands of Michigan residents descend on Lansing to protest their governor's draconian, overreaching COVID-19 policies.
They're not alone.
All across the country, grassroots citizens are rising up to push back against the forced closure of the American economy. "Re-open" groups are popping up in many states, and thousands of citizens are joining the cause.
But Americans are always most powerful when they work together. That's why Convention of States Action has launched the Open The States website. OpenTheStates.com provides a clearinghouse for citizens to access all their local group working to re-open our nation's economy.

"I know that elected officials at all levels of government are concerned about the public health and welfare, and I appreciate that. We all need to be self-governing, use common sense and take precautions in the midst of the pandemic. But heavy-handed and sometimes unconstitutional government orders that interfere with our most basic liberties do more harm than good to the American people, and they must be opposed. We cannot sit idly by while officials ignore our Constitution and destroy our economy.”

Americans must be free to govern themselves. That principle secured our freedom from the British, allowed us to grow into a world superpower, and has gotten us through every crisis so far. We cannot abandon freedom and self-governance now.
