The Colorado Legislative Session began at the State Capitol and the presence of Convention of States was undeniable in the People’s building. Yes, the Colorado Capitol belongs to the people of our state.
The DNA of government of any period in history is to water down the rights of its citizens and establish its heel on the heads of the people it represents. It is the duty in every generation to stand up for liberty and part of that is by establishing boundaries for the federal government to abide by.
Convention of States is the means by which those boundaries will be set. You can’t expect the federal government politicians, regardless of their political party, to set boundaries for themselves.
We intend to trigger Article V “…on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments…”
We intend to pass our resolution in the legislatures of at least two thirds (34) of the states.
We intend to hold a Convention of States to impose federal term limits, limit federal spending and stop federal overreach through amendments that are far overdue to protect the citizens of the United States of America from a tyrannical federal government.
January 9th, 2023 was a day where COS volunteers showed up to the Capitol, witnessed the swearing in of the new legislature and then delivered a newsletter to our State Senators and Representatives to make them all aware that we are here and we are serious about our intentions to represent Convention of States in Colorado, regardless of who holds the majorities.
What was evident to me was that the presence of people wearing the Convention of States t-shirts and the COS branding together was unmatched by any other interest there that day.
The volunteers who showed up were surprised by the magnificence of the building itself and the experience of witnessing the legislative session was something they appreciated.
It changes all of our perspective on our role as citizens. It’s not a building for the elite. It’s for us. We belong there and we should continue to make our presence known.
I must thank John Graboski, our State Legislative Liaison. His hard work preparing for this event was evident that day. We had everything we needed to represent Convention of States and follow through with our intentions of the day. His knowledge is phenomenal of the goings-on in the Capitol, the legislative process, and the means by which to promote our interests. We should be grateful that John is volunteering to lead us through this 2023 Legislative Session.
Thanks also to Art Sickler, the Director of the COS Veterans Coalition, Tim Schneider, Regional Captain and Cherrie Brown, District Captain, for their presence and leadership.
Thank you to all of the volunteers, including the Veterans, who traveled from all around the front range as far south as Westcliffe and Pueblo and as north as Fort Collins. You know how rewarding it is to show up and meet others who want to stand by you and represent the nation you love so much. We appreciate your efforts!
If you’re reading this and you want to tour the State Capitol and be a part of our efforts over the next few months to continue to brand Convention of States and educate our legislators about the truth of our intentions, contact me at vivian.garcia@cosaction.com and I’ll get you set up to go.
Many interest groups who oppose us are intentionally misleading citizens and legislators with phrases that are false. They want the confusion and fear to keep us from our continued widespread growth and accomplishments. We must communicate the truth about who we are and what we are doing.
Your participation and presence helps us to continue the work we have ahead of us to get the truth about Convention of States out to the public. You would be surprised about how many Coloradans have no idea that we exist and if they did, they would support us.
Before August of 2022, less than six months ago, I had never heard of Convention of States. I wish I knew about COS many years ago!
We have a lot of work to do. Diligence is required. Your presence is requested - please sign up to volunteer here.
