If you are fan of The Ohio State, last night was disheartening. In a way it was not so different than the 2020 and 2022 elections. That lousy placekicker cost us the game. Or was it the defensive back who fell, leaving a receiver wide open for a 76-yard touchdown, or the linebacker out of position who allowed the long run? In reality, what cost the game was probably a combination of missed blocks, missed tackles, missed assignments, and missed opportunities vs. completed blocks, completed tackles, completed assignments, and opportunities taken.
As we look forward to the “big political game” as we usher in 2023, how do we prepare so we see a win based on completed blocking and tackling, completed assignments, and realized opportunities? One thing was apparent last night. No matter what the adversity, no one was giving up on their respective team.
Some trick plays worked to perfection. One was stymied by a coach calling a time-out from the sideline, much like we see in our society when a judge, Big Tech, or even our government takes control from the sidelines. Sometimes we just need to accept the call, or the use of a rule and be prepared to prevail in spite of it.
In 2023 it’s time to start preparing team Ohio to ensure a victory for American values and American freedom. We must strategically push back on big government and pass a Convention of States. Practicing, scrimmaging, and playing league games within Ohio will set us up to accomplish our goals.
Are we going to be like the teams last night - prepared and continuing to fight to the very end? We need to get out and meet with our legislators and communicate with our concerned friends, family members, and neighbors in order to gain momentum in 2023. This may also mean setting up meetings in conjunction with other like-minded groups to increase our numbers. But maybe we need many different groups or teams - some with a great offense, some with a great defense, special teams - to gain the knowledge, experience, preparation, and confidence to win the big game.
This may well be the biggest game of our lives. We must be able to look back and feel we successfully made the blocks and the tackles. We must have completed our assignments and realized our opportunities against the all-star enemy team bent on destroying our republic - our America.
