MOORE INFORMATION RESEARCH FIRM CONCLUDES KANSAS VOTERS WANT LESS GOVERNMENT IN THEIR LIVES

  • Gov. Race: Kris Kobach Leads for R’s & Laura Kelly Leads the D’s
  • Trump hits 53% Approval in Kansas
  • While Congress Fails at 69% Disapproval
  • More than Two-thirds (67%) of Kansans Favor Passing Convention of States Resolution

TOPEKA, KANSAS, February 15 – The Moore Information research firm conducted a poll of 400 likely Kansas voters from the state on February 11th, measuring support for the Kansas Governor’s race, President Trump, congressional approval, and the Convention of States. Republicans, Democrats and Independents were part of this survey.

Commenting on the survey, Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler said, “Only one question remains—will the legislators in Kansas comply with the will of the people, or will they do the bidding of the tiny group of anti-constitutionalists in the state who universally oppose calling a Convention of States?

"Will they stand with the ruling elite to keep power in Washington, D.C. or will we see steely spines willing to stand and fight to return power to Kansans in this heated election year?”

In the race for the Republican nomination for Kansas Governor, Kris Kobach leads the field with 26%, followed by Jeff Colyer at 20%, Ken Selzer at 11% and Wink Hartman at 6%.  Still, nearly four-in-ten (38%) are undecided on a candidate today.

On the Democrat side, Laura Kelly holds a nearly 2-to-1 advantage over Jim Ward today (39% Kelly, 20% Ward, and 42% undecided).

President Trump generates a narrow margin of approval from Kansas voters – 53% approve, 45% disapprove of the job he is doing. Approval and disapproval are equally intense with 35% strongly approving and 37% strongly disapproving.

Congress generates a widely negative rating today. Twenty-seven percent approve and fully 69% disapprove. Disapproval prevails throughout the state, among men and women of all ages and across party lines.

The results showed that 67% of Kansans want Kansas to call for a Convention of States to propose constitutional amendments that limit federal spending, limit federal power, and establish term limits for members of Congress and/or federal judges.

This is exactly what SCR 1611 does, and it is currently pending in the Kansas Senate. The people of Kansas have given their state legislators a clear mandate to pass this resolution, and the time is right now.
