A new PEW poll released yesterday found that only 21 percent of Americans approve of the Iran nuclear deal, while 49 percent disapprove. That’s a 12 percent drop in approval rating since July, a trend that crosses party lines as both Democrat and Republican support continues to fall.
These numbers demonstrate what’s obvious to anyone paying attention to the will of the American people. Unfortunately, our President and Congress don’t seem to care. They believe they know what’s best for us, and they’ll likely go ahead with the Iran deal with or without public support. At least, whatever their decision, the views of their constituents won't be a major factor.
It’s time to remind our federal officials who they work for. Americans in every state are gathering volunteer teams to urge their state legislature to call an Article V Convention of States. Such a convention can propose constitutional amendments that limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government and impose term limits on federal officials.
The American people are not to be trifled with. We'll only take so much fraud, waste, and abuse before taking action, and the time for that action is now. An Article V Convention of State is the tool the Founders gave us to stop an overreaching, unresponsive federal government.
