Oklahoma State Director as "Professor of the Constitution"

On this date, a scant 234 years ago, our Founding Fathers signed The Constitution of the United States of America. To honor this “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day” holiday celebration, Oklahoma Convention of States Director John Guinn was invited to speak at Seminole State College.

“Professor” Guinn held the rapt attention of 200 enthusiastic (some perhaps for the extra credit points) Seminole students as he discussed the critical-to-our-Republic importance of Article V of the Constitution, process of amending our Constitution, history of the amendment process, and an overview of Convention of States.

Students engaged in lively conversations about the mission of Convention of States and why our U.S. Constitution’s Article V amendment process is the only solution to correct the national ills caused by our federal government.

Utterback Ballroom is big enough for indoor football practice.

This holiday was created in 2004 and since May 2005, all schools receiving federally funded money and all federal agencies are required to provide educational programming on American Constitutionalism annually each September 17th.

In addition to the motivating lecture and Q-and-A session, Director Guinn had pocket Constitutions, COS background, and Article V literature available, with the students able to sign our COS Petition.

With Article V overhead and COS table-items prominently displayed, our Director Guinn emphasizes how this amendment process is our Republic’s last chance.
