Southern Maryland Convention of States leaders attend local Republican meeting

Published in Blog on February 11, 2021 by Michael Colburn

On February 8 southern Maryland Regional Captain Jim McQueen and District 27 Captain Mike Colburn attended the Calvert County Republican Men’s Club monthly meeting at O’Gannigan’s Pub in Prince Frederick.

The guest speaker for the event was Gayle Hatfield, the Supervisor of the Calvert County Board of Elections.

Jim McQueen saw this as an opportunity to not only hear what the local elections board had to say about last year’s election and how they might improve their logistics, but also as a way to build a relationship with a local organization.

“We were able to meet some of the local club leaders and provide them information on Convention of States,” stated McQueen.

To attract attention for the Republican Men’s Club and to gather our local Convention of States supporters together, “we sent out an email blast to everyone listed for District 27,” said Mike Colburn.

As a new District Captain, Colburn had an opportunity to test one of the new tools at his disposal. The email blast tool was effective reaching many supporters and resulted in a COS volunteer applicant attending the meeting.

McQueen and Colburn hope to encourage Convention of States supporters across southern Maryland to attend these local meetings and build support for our movement. These are a great opportunity to help educate our local neighbors who may not be aware of the gift given to us in Article V of the U.S. Constitution by our Founding Fathers.
