South Carolina Pushing Back on Overreach

Published in Blog on July 26, 2021 by Amy Hill

Recently, Amy Hill met with South Carolina Representative Bill Taylor of House District 86 (Aiken). Representative Taylor filed the first Convention of States (COS) Resolution in the nation to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution.

This convention would be restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress. Although several Article V Resolutions have been introduced throughout the U.S., COS addresses the broader abuses of the current federal government’s operational status quo.

Representative Taylor and Amy had a great discussion on the Pushback Agenda and how bills pass through the South Carolina state legislature. The Pushback Agenda is a report card on a group of proposed conservative bills which Representative Taylor and other legislators authored or sponsored.

He carefully screened and added bills to the report card which would specifically address overreach of state and federal government. The COS Resolution is a priority on the Push Back Agenda and more than 65% of South Carolinians agree with the COS solution.

Citizens and legislators can advocate and track the progress together in partnership by keeping check on Representative Taylor’s Push Back agenda report card. If you would like to volunteer with the South Carolina COS team and push back on federal overreach, complete the form below.
