Both parties are responsible for the massive national debt and fiscal insecurity, but the Democrats just unveiled a plan that makes the Republican omnibus look reasonable.
Senator Bernie Sanders announced an initiative that would “guarantee” a $15/hour job to anyone who “wants or needs one.” The move comes as part of the Democratic strategy for securing Congress in the elections this fall, and they’re doubling down on their free handout strategy for securing votes.
The problem? Those free handouts come at the expense of American taxpayers who actually contribute to society. Sanders’ team hasn’t explained how they’re planning to pay for this plan, but everyone knows tax hikes will play a major role.
The American people are tired of being taxed into oblivion, then watching the feds waste their hard-earned money. They’re looking for a solution that doesn’t depend on the honor of D.C. politicians, and they’ve found it in an Article V Convention of States.
A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that force Congress to be fiscally responsible with taxpayer money. These amendments can include a balanced budget amendment, but a BBA is not enough. Like Sanders, the feds could just raise taxes to meet expenditures, and then the American people would be back in the same position.
A Convention of States can propose a complete package of amendments designed to cap spending and taxation, forcing D.C. to make the tough spending cuts for the good of the country.
