Happy Navy Day to the Convention of States Louisiana veterans

Published in Blog on October 25, 2020 by Marie Claire Olivier

The United States Navy traces its origins to the Continental Navy, which the Continental Congress established on October 13, 1775. Today, it's one of the largest and most impressive navies in the world.

In appreciation of our Naval heritage as a country, we would like to recognize two Convention of States Louisiana members.

Benjamin "B.J." Bement served his country from 1988 to 1992 as a machinist mate and engineering laboratory technician on our nuclear submarines. B.J. is a Convention of States District Captain for Louisiana House District 69.

Daniel "Woody" Woods served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967 as a navigator and diver on naval vessels. Woody served two tours in Vietnam. He is a Convention of States Volunteer in Louisiana House District 82.

We are so grateful to B.J. and Woody for their dedicated service to our beautiful country, for the many risks they took and the sacrifices they made. Thank you.
