Reflections on the Constitution

Published in Blog on September 17, 2018 by Murray Edwards

Article written by Spence Townsend, District Captain for Convention of States Alabama.

As I reflect back on the founding of this great nation and the sacrifices made to create the the Constitution, I'm reminded of the threats, the lives taken, the ridicule and ostracizing endured by our Founders.

Let us remember that the present hostility towards our founding is no less today when defending our freedoms given to us by God, penned by these great men, and reinforced by nature.

So in remembering Constitution Day, remember the sacrifices made through the sweat and blood of our forefathers, and all the patriotic Americans before us.

I leave you with encouragement from a few of our Founders:

"No People can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the Affairs of men more than the People of the United States."  -President George Washington

"Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."  -John Adams

"I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth – that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?" -Benjamin Franklin
