Proud Patriots' Presence Impresses in Payne County

Published in Blog on October 13, 2022 by Tommy Jensen

From August 24 to 27 at the Payne County Fair in Stillwater, “Booth 18” was a constant flurry of Convention of States Action Oklahoma petition drive activity.

Anticipating 5,000 daily visitors to the fair, District Captains Judi Kail and Steve George organized, oversaw the action in our booth, and assisted 18 impassioned patriot volunteers, across two shifts per day.

In response to our team’s enthusiastic visitor briefings of the Article V process – our mission to help the Oklahoma State Legislature and their resolution application to Congress calling for a Convention of States – our team gained 66 new petition signers across this 4-day period.

One of our newest COSA Oklahoma team members, Leslie Mahan, periodically sang stirring and inspiring renditions of our National Anthem.

District Captain and organizer Judi Kail noted, “This is a well attended county fair. Many of the rural families make a point to attend this event. Since we are not selling anything, we don't have the drawback of the economic situation affecting our outcome. We need to be creatively active in presenting our message to everyone.”

The Payne County Fair Committee insists on supporting our leashed, four-legged family members, too.

Bob Smith and his wife volunteered to stay and help longer than they originally planned. Their key family member, Staffordshire Terrier dog, Lexie, was an adorable magnet to our booth, and responsible for several of our visitors signing our petition. We now consider Lexie an honorary COSA Oklahoma volunteer and team member.

Our team urged these new petition signers to get involved and if so moved, volunteer for positions within our state COSA organization as we continue our fight in defense of liberty. With such a positive result for COSA Oklahoma in this petition and membership drive, 2022-2023 will certainly be a year full of accomplishments and membership growth.
