Pray For Our Nation

Published in Blog on April 09, 2022 by Jean Tom

“Pray for the Nation” is the focus at the upcoming Prayer Breakfast, April 23rd from 9 -11 a.m. at Wellspring Church, 222 Lincoln Street, Kensington.

Growing concerns spanning from inflation and morality to uncertainty about war and the future of American democracy are on the minds of many Americans. This ecumenical gathering, sponsored by the Convention of States Connecticut, is an opportunity for local citizens to come together in unity and faith.

Pastor Rick McKinniss of Wellspring Church will welcome guests with an opening prayer. Pastor McKinniss has two theological degrees from Bethel Seminary in Minnesota, where he also taught as an adjunct professor in preaching. Currently, he serves in the emerging global prayer movement InterPrayer, an international ministry fellowship of prayer leaders from several nations.

Keynote Speaker Christina Bennett, communications director for the Family Institute of Connecticut, will share her personal experience with abortion.  Ms. Bennett is active in the pro-life movement for 15 years, serving as a pro-life prayer missionary in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., and as Client Services Manager for a pregnancy resource center in Connecticut. Christina is also a licensed minister, a writer, and a devoted wife and mother.

Closing statements and prayer will be led by Convention of States Volunteer Bill Guiffredo.  “Our country is facing multiple challenges both international and domestic. Increasingly, Americans understand that our country and its fundamental principles and values are threatened by out-of-touch bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.  Historically, Americans have turned to prayer for protection and strength. This prayer breakfast is a way to unite once again in our common beliefs as one nation under God.”

Tickets to attend the prayer breakfast can be purchased for $20 at Eventbrite. The cost includes a continental breakfast.  Deadline to register is April 15th.

About the Sponsor:  Convention of States Connecticut – As part of a national movement, Convention of States is a non-partisan grassroots force of nearly 17,000 local supporters and volunteers working to restore a culture of self-governance in America and to curtail federal overreach. Currently, the Convention of States Connecticut is seeking to pass a resolution in the State Legislature to limit the size and scope of the federal government, including a balanced budget and term limits for federal officials.  The COS movement has officially reached a historic milestone. For the first time in our nation's history, 19 of the requisite 34 states have called for a Convention of States.
