Planting Seeds

Published in Blog on July 10, 2022 by Lorna Corso

I am not a grand orator nor am I comfortable in large crowds. Where my heart lies is in listening and in slowing down and sharing with others. Does this resonate with you?

Two weeks ago I set a goal. Once a week, I will reach out to a family member, a friend, or someone in my network just to check in and catch up. These conversations usually lead to concerns about what is going on in their world. In turn, I share mine.

It is in these moments I weave the story of the Convention of the States, sharing in my own words why I have hope that positive change can happen. Planting seeds.

There is a parable in the Bible of the farmer scattering seeds.

“As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:4-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A recent conversation with a friend resulted in a text after he signed the COS petition:

"VERY SELDOM....as in ...VERY SELDOM ...DO I PICK UP A CALL FROM A NUMBER NOT IN MY CONTACT LIST!!!!!!! But I did this morning. Good decision. It was from GEORGE from COS thanking me for signing the Petition. I expected to be asked for $$$$. NEVER came up in our 30-minute + conversation.
SOOOOO BLESSED!!!👏👏👏"

The next day my friend sent me an email and shared how COS gave him hope and he had made a list of people he planned to talk with about COS.
