She started as a grassroots volunteer. Three short years later, she became a Regional Captain. Meet Susan Dunn, a dedicated political activist, grandmother, and patriot.
Prior to 2021, Susan had regrettably not taken much of an interest in politics, feeling that there was nothing she could do to make a difference. However, in early 2021, Susan discovered Convention of States and eagerly joined the movement, feeling as though she could finally be a part of the solution as big as the problem.
Immediately, she began attending local town halls, political events and pro-life meetings, proudly displaying her COS button and engaging other attendees in conversations pertaining to the COS mission.
Over the course of the next several months, Susan attended the sponsors’ announcement of HJR-1 at the state capitol, met with her state representative, and accepted the position of State Block Walk captain. She and began leading block walks promoting COS in nearby counties.
In January of 2022, Susan joined a group of COS activists at the capitol to testify on HJR-1, Ohio's COS resolution, in front of the State and Local Government House Committee.
Throughout the rest of 2022 and into 2023, Susan continued to further the cause of COS making calls as a Telepatriot volunteer, marching in parades, organizing block walks and a COS Surge Day at the capitol, writing representatives, and manning COS tables at gun shows and home school conferences.
In February of 2024, Susan once again joined a team of COS supporters to testify on the COS resolution in committee, helping to dissipate several myths and misgivings about the COS mission. Shortly afterward, Susan accepted the role of Regional Captain, and became responsible for 15 house districts, onboarding new volunteers, and organizing team meetings across her region.
For her tireless efforts, Susan Dunn was recently presented with the coveted Patriot Pin, an award given to volunteers who deliver above and beyond the call of duty in their effort with COS.
Ohio State Director Bill Scott explains, “For the last four years, Susan Dunn has shown much dedication and effectiveness in serving as a COS volunteer in SW Ohio. She's always willing to help with anything COS needs, so when the SW Ohio Regional Captain role needed a new leader after our long-time Regional Captain Dale Maris stepped down from leadership, Susan answered our call to take on the challenge of leading a very active state region. Susan's thoroughness and perseverance in any task are well noted and appreciated by State leadership. Congrats to Susan on being awarded an Ohio COS Patriot Pin!”
Of her award, Susan comments, “I am truly honored to be among the ranks of the Patriot Pin awardees; there are many people who have helped and encouraged me in countless ways! I suspect they already have well-deserved pins. I will do my best to live up to the bar they’ve set!”
A true embodiment of humility, sacrifice, and patriotism, Susan continues to promote COS at local events, faithfully managing Ohio’s Region Five while encouraging others to further the cause of liberty, not just for themselves and the next generation of American citizens.
