Northeast New Jersey Regional Meeting 1/10/2022

Published in Blog Parent Page on February 01, 2022 by Robert Capone

The Convention of States (COS) New Jersey North East Region 3 is pleased to announce that we have secured locations in our region to hold regular meetings. The first meeting of 2022 was held on Monday, January 10, at the Butler VFW Hall #8096. We thank the facility that is offering us the use of the space free of charge. A free will offering will be taken at each meeting for a donation to this VFW.

The hosts of the event are COS Northeast NJ Regional Director Bob Nordin and his wife Francesca, District Captain of Legislative District 26. The topic of the meeting was what creates COS Culture, i.e., who are we as patriots and what makes us strive to move ourselves and country toward self-governance and liberty?

Reciting an opening prayer, along with the Pledge of Allegiance set the tone for the evening as "God and Country", ideals which Bob believes are important and integral components of COS culture. This was a perfect way for Bob to open up the meeting's discussion of the culture within the Convention of States movement. As Bob describes, "COS culture is all about a collective mindset of patriotism and the rights and duties of moral individuals."

Attendees were asked to state what they believed contributes to our COS Culture. This quote summarizes what we sought to identify: “What is true of every member of the society, individually, is true of them all collectively; since the rights of the whole can be no more than the sum of the rights of the individuals.” Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1789. This discussion was followed by a lively Q & A session.

The meeting was well attended. There were six new petition signers looking to possibly get more involved with our movement, six return attendees and ten core COS volunteers. Our inaugural 2022 event closed with a prayer and then a time to visit with our guests.

Next meetings of NJ NE Region 3 are 2/7/22 in Butler, in the west of our region and 2/16/22 in Rochelle Park, in the east of our region. Carlo Nardone, NJ State Legislative Liaison, will present the legislative process of the COS Resolution in NJ.
