This terrible wave of crime may soon be a rarity, we hope and pray! Thank God!
We can be certain that this topic would be front and center at an Article V Convention - as the States which have suffered from such incursions can legally unite to protect their borders, their cities and their citizens as well as assisting victims who might sadly have been trafficked across their borders.
This effort could fall under the aegis of keeping the federal government in Washington honest by reminding it to do its job - and not just for one administration(!), but permanently.
If a more lackadaisical administration in future decides not to enforce the law of the land, then the States must fill in the gaps or remind the central authority of its duties. The latter requires more teeth to enforce the rule of law.
Many edicts (executive orders) can sadly be halted by judicial delays and easily removed by future administrations, unless they have been given the lasting power of legislation; and that is what only Congress or the State Legislatures can accomplish.
Article V amendments ensure the permanence of any structural overhaul. Nothing else lasts! Amendments are powerful as they reflect an enormous level of public support by their very nature.
We can achieve our goals without relying on Congress, which has yet to police itself, by-passing all other branches of government, as we propose legislation via amendments requiring ratification by 3/4 of the states… that’s 38 of them that must agree!
We strongly uphold and protect our constitutional republic by adhering to the Constitution as it was originally created, together recognizing all subsequent amendments duly ratified by the States; we encourage interested parties to research us, to sign our petition (calling for amendment topic proposals supported by a majority of fellow citizens), as follows:

3. Reduction in the size and scope of the federal government
