The COS Booth at the Nebraska State Fair was frequently bursting at the seams. What a sight to behold. During peak periods, there were three lines with each line running three deep as patriots signed the Convention of States petition at the Nebraska State Fair this year.
Overall, nearly 400 new petitions were signed during the fair which ran from August 26 through September 5. There were also 85 supporters who indicated interest in becoming more involved and helping the project going forward. While petition signers and those expressing interest were primarily from Nebraska, petitions were signed by patriots from neighboring states and as far way as New York and Florida.
COS volunteers and supporters at the booth were also visited by Nebraska State Senator Steve Halloran and his wife Ann. Senator Halloran is the primary sponsor of the COS resolution that passed the Nebraska Legislature earlier this year. As a result, Nebraska is one of the 19 states so far to successfully call for a Convention of States.
Overall, 10 Nebraska COS volunteers helped staff the booth. Volunteers are still busy in these days after the fair, following up with petition signers and those wanting to become more involved.
Nebraska COS volunteer and District Captain, Bryan Boll, commented, “Wow, I’ve helped out at the fair in years past. But the enthusiasm this year was really something else. People were stopping at the booth on their own to say ‘Thank You’ and ‘Keep it Up’. It was incredible.”
