I remember very clearly, getting up and going to school every day of my adolescent life.
I remember walking into my classroom, surrounded by my fellow students, taking my seat and awaiting the morning static over the in room speaker. This was the signal of the start of our day.
It began each morning with our entire class standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
I can still see the American Flag swaying slightly in the breeze from an open window. I can still smell the crisp Brooklyn air. I can still remember the faces of my classmates, reciting the words we were taught so young to respect and revere.
It always brought a tear to my eyes when the words "with liberty and justice for all" were spoken.
These words still bring tears to my eyes, but not for the happy memory of childhood, nor for the powerful assumption that we were all granted these wondrous gifts.
The tears I shed these days are for my country as a whole.
We have lost our passion, our commitment to the Constitution, and our very soul as a free nation.
Liberty and justice has been replaced by power and greed. "One Nation Under God" is now a divided nation under duress. We no longer live our lives in the pursuit of happiness, but the almighty dollar.
Money does not buy happiness. Power does not give you liberty. Greed puts justice in the hands of our elected leaders, who lie, cheat, and steal from their own to obtain it. The Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves, bemoaning the sad state of our great nation.
It falls upon the shoulders of We The People to restore our republic.
Col. George Mason gave us the means to take back our government in Article V of the Constitution, and it's high time we put aside all of our differences as human beings and come together to reestablish what blood, sweat, and sacrifice formed over 200 years ago.
It will be a long road, a rough ride, and an emotional rollercoaster to be sure, but We The People have the right. We must unite and use the power given us to stand up to the lifetime politicians that skulk through the corridors of the District of Columbia.
Our lives--and those of our children and grandchildren--depend on our coming together to stop the madness infecting our Government. We must unite on all fronts, fight back with everything we've got, and never forget what it is we strive for: "liberty and justice for all."
Never underestimate our opponents. They will stop at nothing to defeat us in our quest for liberty. We must remain dedicated to our cause.
We the People stand strongest together.
