Mrs. Doubtfire was not a drag queen

Published in Blog on September 18, 2023 by Ernie Borgoyne

There is an international non-profit organization called Drag Story Hour (formerly Drag Queen Story Hour).

They offer “Storytellers using the art of drag to read books to kids in libraries, schools, and bookstores,” which “captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.”

Let that sink in for a moment.

Supporters say there is nothing wrong with comparing it to Robin Williams in Drag as “Mrs. Doubtfire” reading books to children. And what about Jack Lemmon in “Some Like It Hot,” John Travolta in “Hairspray,” Dustin Hoffman in “Tootsie,” and yes, even the Three Stooges all dressed in Drag?

But many parents feel intimidated to speak up even though they know it's wrong.

To understand why this is a false equivalence, one must understand the roots of the glitz and glamour of Drag Queens.

Queer Theory developed out of the academic discipline born in 1984 with the publication of Thinking Sex: Notes for a Radical Theory of the Politics of Sexuality.” Author Gayle S. Rubins described a hierarchical system of sexual values where married monogamous heterosexuals were at the top, while stable, long-term lesbian and gay male couples were approaching respectability. The bottom included transsexuals, prostitutes, and porn models. Still, the lowest were those who “transgress generational boundaries,” an academic way of saying underage sex.

Then she stated something jaw-dropping,

“Like communists and homosexuals in the 1950s, boylovers are so stigmatized that it is difficult to find defenders for their civil liberties, let alone for their erotic orientation... In twenty years or so, when some of the smoke has cleared, it will be much easier to show that these men have been the victims of a savage and undeserved witchhunt.”

In other words, the lowest in the sexual acceptability hierarchy – pedophilia - should begin gaining respect around 2004 (20 years after the article was written).

Enter Jeffrey Epstein right on queue

JPMorgan Chase allegedly informed the government of over $1 billion in transactions related to “human trafficking” by the late financier Jeffrey Epstein dating to 2003, a lawyer for the U.S. Virgin Islands said.

We can see what's happening, why it's happening, and where it is leading. But what can be done to stop it?

The power lies at the state level. Attend school board meetings. Hold your state legislators responsible for keeping sex out of the classrooms. Get involved!
