Michigan Region Guide

Published in Blog on April 19, 2021 by Julia Campbell

First off, thank you for volunteering! Everyone at Convention of States Michigan appreciates all the time and effort you put into this movement.

This post is your guide to the structure of the grassroots organization here in Michigan. Specifically, it will help you identify your district and your region, so you can get in touch with your District Captain (DC) and Regional Captain (RC), as well as your state representative and senator.

A District Captain is the grassroots leader of their house district. There are 110 house districts in Michigan, so our goal is to have 110 DCs. Your DC is your COS main contact. Their job is to organize volunteers for events and lobbying efforts toward your state representative.

A Regional Captain is the leader of one of six COS regions. These regions are determined using Michigan Senate districts. Some house districts belong to multiple senate districts. This occasionally affects COS regions, and some districts belong to multiple regions. Your RC helps the DCs in your region.

If you don't know which house and senate district you live in, you can use the following tools to look up your districts by address:

Below is a map outlining the COS Michigan regions prepared by two of our wonderful volunteers, Nik and Janet Rajcevski (HD 45). Under the image is a breakdown of the senate and house districts in each region. If you live in a house district designated as partial, use your senate district to figure out which region you belong to.
