Think about this!
As we ponder this statement in relation to ALL governments, but especially to any centralized authority that has become too large, too distant, too self-serving, too caught up with appearance over substance while totally unresponsive to its citizens, what comes to mind are the enormous disasters in Western North Carolina, Maui, and especially NOW with the ongoing firestorms in California; these multiple disasters have killed as well as caused the massive destruction of thousands of homes and businesses throughout these states, only to be followed by evasive finger pointing; we witness excuses given by those at the very top of the pyramid casting blame anywhere else in each instance after they have failed miserably to prepare for or respond to such calamities.
These are examples of such gross incompetence and lack of preparedness that we are bombarded with all too often… what about the ones we have yet to discover?
Where were (are) their priorities?
Where was (is) their focus?
Where did they allocate resources and money? Was it wisely or foolishly spent?
We known the answers - and those in charge should not shirk responsibility nor remain in office, if they had any sense of honor.
In ancient times and even in some more recent times and cultures, such failures were viewed with such shame that those held responsible "fell on their swords". We are not so vengeful (!) but all too often we see the complete opposite - a brief apology is extremely rare, even if mumbled - and any real consequence, such as a resignation or the loss of a pension are also hardly ever seen. The horribly mismanaged Afghanistan withdrawal is yet another example of a government debacle with NO resignations, NO court martial trials, and NO dishonorable discharges.
We The People deserve better!
When such sheer incompetence and mismanagement accumulate and result in terrible (mortal) consequences, it's like splitting hairs to distinguish these life-threatening oversights from deliberate subterfuge, in the opinion of this author and many.

You can begin by signing our petition or by introducing it to others who have yet to do so:
Convention of states New Hampshire has filed the Convention of States resolution for 2025, but we need your help to push it forward before the legislative session starts.
