Meet Chander M. Malhotra: Patriotic U.S. Citizen and Immigrant from India

Published in Blog on June 09, 2021 by Kurt O'Keefe

I came to the USA about fifty years ago as a student. I had completed a Masters in Physics at the University of Delhi and sought to further my studies. My intention was to get a US degree then going back to India.

However, I realized after my studies I would have vast opportunities for growth here. I decided to apply for immigration and finally became a citizen.

The requirements to come to the USA as a student were very strict: (1) You had to pass an English proficiency test, then complete a live interview with an official of the US Embassy.

(2) You had to show financial support for a year, demonstrating you would not become dependent on USA government.

(3) You had to complete a medical examination involving a blood test and a chest X-ray at a medical clinic approved by the US Embassy.

(4) The US Embassy requested a police report from the police station of the area you lived in to ensure you did not have a criminal record.

(5) While at an American University, you had to maintain a B average to be eligible to continue to stay

(6) At the end of each year, you had to write to the immigration office of your current address.

Now, let's fast forward 50 years into the future. Today, an illegal alien could just walk across the US border and receive benefits many US citizens do not have. Criminals and terrorists can easily enter our country.

The state of immigration is an insult to those who followed all the rules out of respect for the laws of this nation, became legal immigrants, and then gained their citizenship, as I did. I want our country of 50 years ago back.

Like most immigrants, I used to be a Democrat. President John F. Kennedy’s policies and values impressed immigrants like myself. I remained a Democrat for a long time. That was until I realized the Democrat Party I belonged to had changed so dramatically I no longer had anything in common with it.

I started watching and listening to the conservative media and soon realized I was actually a conservative. That changed everything for me. I am pro-life, I support the 2nd Amendment, our military, and police and law enforcement agencies. I support secure borders, school choice, and many other conservative values. Today, I am concerned about the future of my grandchildren.

Free speech is suppressed and we are spending our future generation’s money; our education system is being destroyed by 'wokeness' and crime is on the rise. Politicians do not work for us anymore, they are only interested in power grab.

These are the reasons I joined the Convention of States. I am going to Lansing for Surge Day June 10.
