Media bias and why we can't rely on the press

Published in Blog on July 17, 2017 by Convention Of States Project

Media bias is old news, but last night’s GOP debate brought it to the forefront of the American consciousness.

The “gotcha” questions and personal attacks became so bad one commentator called it an “encyclopedic example of liberal media bias,” and the on-set crowd in Colorado booed the moderators multiple times throughout the night.

If the mainstream press can’t be trusted to ask fair questions, how can the American people trust them to uncover waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government? Freedom of the press was intended to allow the media to fight for the people; instead, they fight for their favorite party.

Article V of the Constitution gives the people a way to take the fight to D.C. without relying on the fickleness of the press. An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that address the most serious problems facing our nation -- the debt, career politicians, and the tyranny of the federal government can all be dealt with safely and effectively.
