Hundreds of federal regulations on beer, fireworks, hamburgers and even corn-on-the-cob cost families an additional $40, according to a new report on the July 4th tax.
American Action Forum regulatory policy director Sam Batkins researched the regulations on the holiday treats to determine the costs. And they are huge.
In an infographic titled "Our Regulated Independence Day," he found the following number of rules and regulations that add up to the cost of $40 for a family of four:
— Hamburgers, 100.
— Hot dogs, 111.
— Corn, 56.
— Fireworks, 1,673.
— Beer, 182.
That's 2,022, for those counting.

July 4th isn't the only day that's more expensive (and less free) due to overreaching federal regulations. The American people pay for the massive government in Washington every day, but now they've found a way to fight back. An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that limit the kinds of regulations the feds can pass, allowing the people more liberty and self-governance.
