COS Massachusetts leaders awarded Challenge Coins

Published in Blog on September 27, 2020 by Matt May

Convention of States Massachusetts State Director Michael Arnold, Grassroots Coordinator Becky Giambarresi, and State Information Analyst Mike DelSanto were awarded Challenge Coins by COS President Mark Meckler for their commitment to the movement and “extraordinary grassroots activism.”

The Challenge Coins were presented by Regional Director Monica Sellers, who traveled from Ohio to attend the Massachusetts strategy meeting on September 26.

The presentation was preceded by a video greeting from Mark in which he discussed the importance of continuing grassroots outreach concerning COS and Article V. He also recognized the Challenge Coin recipient “servant leaders” for their work in growing the movement in the Bay State.

That work has been such that Mark mused that he did not believe that he had ever awarded three coins at once for a single team, “and that means you are doing something extraordinary.”

As Mark pointed out, only 300 Challenge Coins were minted and, to date, just short of 200 have been awarded. The coins feature the image of Founding Father George Mason on one side and the original COS logo on the other.

Along with the coins, Michael, Becky, and Mike were each presented with a lapel pin and a numbered and signed certificate. Some of Mark’s comment about each Challenge Coin recipient follow:

Michael Arnold: “He’s a guy who just steps when something needs to be done…I know, Michael, you have a really demanding job that that takes a lot of your time…and I know you sacrifice a lot for COS…countless hours to the COS cause.”

Becky Giambarresi: Becky “loves to serve the grassroots and often works behind the scenes. People love talking to her…and the new people always feel welcome because of Becky…I know a lot of things that you do are out of your comfort zone, but I know you do it because you love your country and you love COS, and you have dedicated yourself to the cause.”

Mike DelSanto: “He does a little bit of everything; onboarding, training the new District Captains, holding weekly calls, and that kind of weekly, regular stuff is really important…Mike is really considered an inspiration to the team…Mike’s an inspiring leader and that kind of inspiration is critical to any team.”

Congratulations to Michael, Becky, and Mike for their dedicated service and unparalleled leadership for Convention of States and Article V in Massachusetts!
