Limitless Government

Published in Blog on July 17, 2017 by Convention Of States Project

Daniel Henninger wrote an article last week for the Wall Street Journal in which he describes how the White House has abused its power "repeatedly and across the breadth of the federal government."

This may not surprise you, but Henninger's extensive list of federal overreach will shock even the most politically calloused.

The White House has redefined the law for

  • Universities
  • Public schools
  • Fire and police departments
  • The financial industry
  • Utilities
  • State legislatures
  • Orders of nuns
  • Black parents
  • Small-business owners
  • The electrons inside the Internet
  • Random sections of the U.S. Constitution

In July 2011, the president said in public he'd like to "bypass Congress and change the laws on my own." The phrase, "change the laws on his own," is not in the U.S. Constitution.

The next year, Mr. Obama made his now-famous and unconstitutional recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. The recess appointments were the tip of the iceberg.

Clearly, something has to be done to stop the increasingly blatant overreach of the federal government.

Article V gives the American people a real, viable solution to halt the abuses of power coming from every branch of government in Washington, D.C. The Convention of States process can propose and ratify constitutional amendments that effectively limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.
