It’s been a busy year for Convention of States New York!

Published in Blog on December 27, 2023 by Mary Ellen Probanski

From gun shows and library meetings to street fairs and state fairs, from Long Island all the way to Rochester, Plymouth, MA and Valley Forge, PA, your COS NY team has been very busy spreading the word about Article V in 2023!

In March, we held our annual Surge Day at the Capitol in Albany. Our main resolution sponsors, Senator Joseph Griffo (B272) and Assemblyman Brian Miller (C184) were presented with Patriot Pins and Certificates of Appreciation for their ongoing support of COS NY. We then proceeded to visit as many legislators as we could during the day to spread the word about Article V of the U.S. Constitution.

In May, a handful of our New York volunteers traveled to Plymouth, MA for the National Day of Prayer with COS volunteers from around the states, The Jenney Interpretive Centre and The Patriot Academy. While there, we visited The National Monument to the Forefathers in Pilgrim Memorial State Park and the Jenney Museum.

Before hosting a table at the Syracuse Gun Show, we also traveled to The Liberty Conference of Wayne County in East Palmyra, NY. And we had a soaring time at the Orange County Air Show in Montgomery.

In August, our state was represented by Professor Nicholas Giordano from Suffolk County at the Simulated Convention of States in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The professor also did a public presentation on COS at Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island during Constitution Week. He also had COS President Mark Meckler on his podcast, The PAS Report.

In September, we met with COS volunteers throughout the northeast at our regional summit in Valley Forge, PA, where we took a tour of Valley Forge National Historic Park. That same weekend, we found ourselves at the Atlantic Antic Street Fair in Brooklyn!

Regional Captain Thomas Dunning was awarded the coveted COS Challenge Coin and was voted the first NYS Volunteer of the Year Award by his peers for his tremendous efforts. The COS NY Team was also nominated for Team of the Year by our national organization.

All in all, it’s been an adventurous year, and we look forward to another amazing year in 2024. We have accrued over 78,000 petition signers over the past ten years and many new volunteers too.
